Built by dog owners, for dog owners
Canine Insights started with a simple frustration: the gap between what behaviour science actually knows about dogs and what most owners have access to.
Why we built this
When a dog is struggling — reactive, anxious, unsettled, unpredictable — owners are often left with two options: generic advice from the internet, or expensive professional consultations that happen once a month and rely on verbal descriptions of incidents that happened weeks ago.
Neither is good enough. The science of canine behaviour has advanced considerably in the last two decades. We know how stress hormones work in dogs. We know how sleep affects emotional regulation. We know how triggers stack. Most owners just don't have access to that knowledge in a practical, daily form.
Canine Insights exists to close that gap.
Behaviour is driven by patterns, not individual moments
Every dog is an individual — generic advice has limits
Understanding replaces punishment — always
Data builds the empathy that anecdotes can't
Force-free, evidence-based — no exceptions
Our approach to science
Every feature in Canine Insights is grounded in modern canine behaviour science. We draw on research in stress physiology, canine cognition, applied animal behaviour science and learning theory. We don't use dominance-based frameworks, aversive methods, or outdated pack theory — these have been comprehensively refuted by peer-reviewed research and we have no interest in rehabilitating them.
The recommendations the app generates align with the professional guidelines of organisations including the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC) and the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC).
Where we're going
Canine Insights is in early access. We're building with a small group of dog owners who are giving us real feedback on what's useful, what's missing, and what needs to be better. If you're using the app during this period, you're shaping what it becomes — and we take that seriously.
Our roadmap includes deeper insight types, integration with professionals, expanded guidance for specific behaviour challenges, and tools that help owners share data with vets and behaviourists in a useful format. But we're building carefully — because the last thing the world needs is another app that oversimplifies something that deserves to be taken seriously.
If you have feedback, questions, or just want to tell us about your dog — we genuinely want to hear from you. Get in touch →
